8 Day Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater Safari

OVERVIEW

This is Tanzania’s classic safari. It pairs the endless plains of the Serengeti with the extraordinary wildlife concentration of the Ngorongoro Crater, delivering two of Africa’s most iconic ecosystems in one seamless journey. The pace is deliberately balanced: a calm arrival in Arusha, several days in the Serengeti where predator activity defines the rhythm of the plains, followed by the cool volcanic highlands surrounding Ngorongoro. The result is a safari that feels complete without feeling rushed.

Your Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Arusha

Arusha sits beneath Mount Meru and has long been the gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. On arrival you are met and transferred through quiet leafy neighborhoods to your lodge where gardens and views toward the surrounding mountains create a calm start to the journey.

Most travelers spend the afternoon resting after long international flights. The cooler highland air and relaxed pace make Arusha the perfect place to reset before heading into the wild landscapes waiting beyond the town.

Day 2 – Arusha to Serengeti

The journey west gradually leaves the highlands behind as the road moves through the Great Rift Valley and toward the Serengeti ecosystem. The scenery shifts from cultivated hillsides to vast grasslands where acacia trees and granite kopjes break the horizon.

Wildlife sightings often begin before reaching camp. Giraffes move gracefully across the plains while elephants wander between rocky outcrops and herds of antelope graze in the open savannah.

Day 3-4 - Serengeti Wildlife Experience

Across two days in the Serengeti, the rhythm of the ecosystem reveals itself slowly to those who spend time watching the plains. At first light lions return from the night hunt while hyenas patrol the grasslands and cheetahs climb termite mounds to scan the horizon for movement. As the day unfolds the scale of the landscape becomes clear. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebra drift across the plains, elephants gather around seasonal waterholes, and vultures circle patiently above the savannah.

With time to explore different sectors of the ecosystem, your guide follows fresh tracks in the dust, distant alarm calls, and circling birds that often reveal predator activity long before animals are visible. Every drive reveals another moment unfolding across the plains. A lion pride resting beneath acacia shade, cheetahs stalking antelope through tall grass, or giraffes moving slowly across the horizon in the warm glow of the Serengeti evening.

Day 5 – Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands

Leaving the Serengeti plains behind, the journey climbs gradually into the volcanic Ngorongoro Highlands where forests and cooler temperatures transform the landscape.

Your lodge sits on the crater rim overlooking one of Africa’s most extraordinary natural amphitheaters. From this vantage point the entire crater floor stretches far below.
