7 Day Uganda Gorilla & Wildlife Safari
OVERVIEW
This journey is built around Uganda’s strongest contrast: wide-open savannah where predators hunt at dawn, followed by the hushed intensity of meeting a wild mountain gorilla in an ancient rainforest. It starts in Queen Elizabeth National Park, where the Rift Valley floor is alive with elephant, buffalo and lion, then climbs south into Bwindi’s highland forest for the defining primate encounter.
To finish, Lake Mburo slows the pace in the best way — acacia woodland, zebra herds, and the rare chance to experience the bush on foot or horseback. It’s a clean, logical route with breathing room, and it ends by breaking the long return drive back to Entebbe into something that still feels like a safari.
Your Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Entebbe
Touch down in Entebbe and meet your private guide. The evening is deliberately easy — Lake Victoria air, a quiet dinner, and time to reset after travel.
If you arrive early, you can add a gentle intro to Uganda with a sunset stroll by the lake or a short visit to the botanical gardens. Tomorrow, the real wilderness begins.
Accommodation:
Luxury: Hotel No.5
Mid-range: The Boma Hotel
Budget: ViaVia Guest House
Meals: Dinner

Day 2 – Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park
The road west trades city noise for countryside — banana plantations, tea estates, and crater-lake country as you approach the Albertine Rift.
By late afternoon you’re in Queen Elizabeth’s savannah. Settle into your lodge and watch the landscape cool as buffalo and elephants start to move again.
Accommodation:
Luxury: Kyambura Gorge Lodge
Mid-range: Elephant Hab Lodge
Budget: Bush Lodge (tented rooms)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3 – Game Drives & Kazinga Channel Boat Safari
At first light you roll out onto the Kasenyi plains, where kob herds draw predators and the open visibility makes sightings feel cinematic.
After a break at the lodge, the afternoon belongs to the Kazinga Channel — hippos packed like stones in the water, crocodiles on the banks, and elephants wading in to drink within metres of the boat.
Accommodation:
Luxury: Kyambura Gorge Lodge
Mid-range: Elephant Hab Lodge
Budget: Bush Lodge (tented rooms)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 – Ishasha Tree‑Climbing Lions & Transfer to Bwindi
You head south through Queen Elizabeth’s remote Ishasha sector, a mosaic of open plains and riverine fig trees that’s famous for lions resting high in the branches.
Later the road climbs into the cool highlands. Bwindi appears as a wall of green on steep ridges — a different world entirely, and the stage for tomorrow’s trek.
Accommodation:
Luxury: Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp
Mid-range: Mahogany Springs Lodge
Budget: Buhoma Community Rest Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 – Gorilla Trekking & Optional Batwa Encounter
The morning begins at the ranger station with a detailed briefing, then you enter Bwindi behind expert trackers following fresh signs through vines, ridges and thick undergrowth.
When the gorilla family is found, you spend one unforgettable hour close enough to hear them feeding and breathing. If you return from the forest with time and energy, an ethical, community-led Batwa visit can be added in the afternoon — storytelling, music, and lived history from the forest edge (optional).
Accommodation:
Luxury: Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp
Mid-range: Mahogany Springs Lodge
Budget: Buhoma Community Rest Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 – Transfer to Lake Mburo & Walking or Horseback Safari
Leaving the rainforest behind, the drive opens into the cattle country of Ankole — rolling hills, long‑horned herds, and a sense that you’ve crossed into a softer, more pastoral Uganda.
Lake Mburo is perfect for moving differently. Step out with a ranger for a walking safari, or ride out on horseback among zebras and impala — a rare kind of closeness that vehicles can’t give you.
Accommodation:
Luxury: Mihingo Lodge
Mid-range: Rwakobo Rock
Budget: Eagle’s Nest
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 – Morning Safari & Return to Entebbe
One last early outing in Mburo often delivers zebra against golden grass, giraffe silhouettes, and the quiet rhythm of a small park waking up.
Then it’s back to Entebbe with a stop at the Equator for photos and lunch. Arrive in time for your outbound flight or a final night in Entebbe if you prefer a buffer.
